ELIZE ROBERT
‘Does it upset you?’ I asked.
His head snapped my way with a look of confusion, ‘What do you mean by that?’
‘I mean if it bother you that we won’t be having anymore kids?’
‘Why would you think that?’ He replied.
‘You said you wanted to have 9 kids of our own.’ I reminded.
Tyrone crossed the room and sat beside me. ‘Baby, I don’t care if we can’t have any kids after this, I’m thankful for whatever we have. Besides we have more than what I ever asked for, we have The Second House’s family.’ He stated taking my hands in his, and brought them to his lap, caressing them gently. ‘The question is, does it bother you?’ He questioned looking at me tenderly.
‘You said it yourself, we have our own houseful of kids. So yeah, I don’t really care. I’ll just see it as something I had to lose to gain my children’s lives.’ I shrugged nonchalantly.
‘It’s settled then!’ He kissed my forehead before standing up. ‘I’ll go finalise your discharge papers then we can head home.’ He said.
I grinned at him. ‘I get to go home?’ I asked with enthusiasm. I hated hospitals with a passion, especially the scent. It triggers my nausea like no other. And my health freak husband agreeing to my discharge this early only served to intensify my happiness.
He chuckled at me, ‘Wipe that grin away, honey. We may be going home but you’re going to stay in the mansion’s infirmary for awhile until I’m sure you’ve completely recovered.'
My smile was soon replaced by a frown. ‘Should have guessed, you’re no fun!’
‘Stop pouting, Baby. There’s no way out of this.’ He said still chuckling. The insensitive man was having the time of his life on my expense.
Then I remembered something.
‘Wait, what about the twins? You said they still need another month in the incubator.’
‘They’ll be coming with us of course, I already prepared the infirmary with whatever they shall need.’ He assured.
I heaved a sigh of relief, but then there was something else I was curious about.
‘Tyrone?’
‘Yes, baby?’ He said looking at me in question.
‘Who operated on me?’ Tyrone never liked to leave any of us with doctors alone, especially when it included surgeries or some major injuries that needed extra attention. He would always be the one doing it, the doctors he calls for are only there to help him.
I remember him telling me once that he studied Medicine since he wanted to be a doctor, he even was one of the most well known ones in the city for awhile before he had to take over the family business. I witnessed him treating Eden the time he was shot, and he really was good, no scratch that, he was great at what he does. I may not be an expert like him, but I know talent when I see it. Besides I took some lessons about basic medical knowledge during my training, Devan made sure I was able to cure myself when I’m injured and out of reach.
I’m glad Tyrone decided he was a doctor, I wouldn’t have trusted anyone with any of our babies like I do him.
‘You mean the C - Section?’ He asked.
I nodded, ‘I did.’ He said. “Did you think I would allow another person delivering my babies after I missed my little princess’ birth?’
I felt a familiar pang of guilt ripping at my heart for the millionth time, he took my chin in his tender cold fingers coaxing me to look at him when I lowered my gaze in shame.
‘You Don’t have to feel guilty or bad about something you did for our sake, I never blamed you when I didn’t know and would never blame you now that I know the truth behind your actions. You are my lovely wife, the mother of my children, and the love of my life. I will never be mad at you no matter what you did or will do in the future.’ He comforted me kissing my eyelids when I closed them trying to control my tears.
I opened them with tears in them. ‘What ever did I do to deserve you!’ I exclaimed, hugging him tightly.
‘I should be the one saying that. You were the answer to all my prayers, there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t give up for a moment with you.’ He said kissing my temple, and rubbing my back with his hand.
‘Now let’s go home. I bet the boys are going crazy waiting for you.’ He chuckled before breaking the hug and wiping my tears away.
‘They know?’ I asked.
‘Yeah, I told them, it was the only way to keep them from barging in here few hours ago.’
I frowned. ‘What do you mean?’
‘They never left your side from the very beginning. Only few hours ago I insisted that they go home to shower and rest before coming back. However luckily you woke up, but then they insisted to come here so I had to ruin the surprise and tell them to wait at home since we’ll be coming back with their brothers.’ He explained.
‘Oh, my poor babies! The must have been shocked.’ I said sadly.
Especially Ethan. Tyrone murmured but I’m sure that part wasn’t for me to hear. However I did anyway.
‘What do you mean?’
He looked at me shocked that he uttered that out loud, before cursing under his breath. Hesitation was written all over his face.
‘What. Is. That. Supposed. To mean. Tyrone?’ I emphasised each word to show him I wasn’t bluffing, not when it comes to my kids, my Ethan.
‘Not now, honey! Later, okay?’ He promised gently.
‘Tyrone, if it’s about one of our kids I have the right to know!’ I sighed tiredly.
‘Honey, a lot happened while you were sleeping. I have a lot of things to tell you, a lot of shocking things that you can’t take in your current state. But first you have to recover fully for me to start with the introduction to those things.’ He caressed my cheeks softly.
‘But…..’
‘No buts, Elize!’ He said sternly this time, almost glaring at me. ‘I’m not risking your health for something I can or have dealt with, enjoy this tiny amount of rest you’re having now. There’s no need to rush the bad things for they will come without us asking.’
He added. ‘Please, honey. For me.’ He pleaded when he saw I was hesitating.
I sighed. ‘All right, I guess few days delay would do no harm.’
‘Thank you, baby.’ He kissed my forehead.
‘What about bbb…’ I heaved a sigh, ‘Brandon?’ I finally uttered. Even saying his name seemed to be difficult.
‘He’s waiting for your return along with Jason in our home, he came everyday to visit you when you were in a coma.’ He said, but I can see there was something more he wanted to add but was in conflict with himself whether to share it with me or not.
‘What is it, Tyrone?’ I asked impatiently.
‘He shared an interesting story with me while you were sleeping, one I bet you want to hear.’ He finally disclosed.
‘What story?’
‘This is neither the right time for you to hear it nor is it my story to tell, but I can tell you it would most probably change your mind about him. However you’ll have to ask him that, just not now, okay?’ He wanted a confirmation that I wouldn’t go against my own promise to wait until I’m fully recovered.
I nodded, assuring him, but my mind kept going back to his words. Just what kind of story is this one that Tyrone thought would change my mind about my brother after knowing what he did to me.
I was now both curious and hell - bent on finding out what it was.
