‘Zeus is involved.’ Stated Müller.
‘What?’ Jürgen’s head shot up from Adam’s wound to him.
‘Fucking pay attention, Jürgen!’ I snapped.
I was furious at each and everything. How Adam was laying unconscious on our wedding day, how my wedding was ruined because of a bunch of stupid fuckers, and now I find out that this mess was because of Zeus’s greedy ass.
To top it off, the person who’s helping me operating on Adam on this shitty place wasn’t paying attention to the most important thing at hand.
‘I want him in the house in an hour.’ I ordered stitching Adam up.
I saw he was about to leave, so I spoke. ‘Call Großer Bruder too.’
‘Yes, Ma’am.’ He obliged before leaving.
‘Prepare the car, we’ll move him to the hospital.’ I said to one of the bodyguards stationed outside the curtain in which we were inside before I pulled the gloves I was wearing off, while Jürgen wrapped the tools back in the case.
‘Isn’t the infirmary a much better option.’ Questioned Jürgen.
‘No, I want him under professionals’ care while I take care of this mess.’ I said.
I parked the car in front of the house and gave the keys to the valet before storming in the house.
Zeus approached me along with Müller.
Zeus’ posture however was much cautious, submissive even. The way he approached me was as if he was carefully gauging my reaction before acting.
That’s one of the reasons he was chosen as the Crawlers leader. He knew when and to whom he should submit to. He was also good at reading people.
But I’m not just anyone. He should’ve known better.
‘Later.’ I raised my hand stopping whatever he opened his mouth to utter.
I went upstairs, stripped my bloody and shattered wedding gown off before heading to the shower, untangling the pins from my hair and dropping them on the floor on my way, creating a trail of them behind me.
I had an hour long, and much needed, boiling hot shower to relax my muscles and to rewind the happenings from the past few hours.
They dared to sabotage my wedding for something as petty as a grudge against my employee!
They dared to hurt my husband to achieve their goal!
Anger flared within me. They would pay, heavily for ever casting a glance my way.
I finished my shower and wore a pair of dark ripped jeans and a dark purple shirt, put my hair in a ponytail before heading downstairs.
Zeus got on his knees with his head bowed, the moment he saw me descending.
‘PPlease forgive me. I didn’t know they’ll go there.’ He pleaded in a shaky voice.
‘Wasn’t the money I gave you enough to clear your debts?’ I asked as calm as I could manage.
‘Yes, it was.’ Was his reply.
‘Then why the fuck would you go and gamble again when I clearly forbid you!’
‘I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.
I knew of his addiction, he knew of his addiction, hell, everyone knew of his addiction. I told him multiple times that it was the only weakness he had, the only one his enemies could have the upper hand with. Yet he never seems to heed my warnings.
‘Why are you such an idiot bastard!’ I boomed. ‘I told you dozens of times to clean your tracks well, or never get caught in these kinds of situations in the first place!’
He seemed to be caught off guard by my outburst because he flinched when I raised my voice.
‘Your father wouldn’t want you to be this pathetic son of a bitch, and you know it.’
I stated in a much calmer yet serious tone.
I approached him and caught his neck, dragging his face towards me. ‘What part of kill or be killed you don’t understand!’ I exclaimed.
He abruptly stood up, knocking my hand off his body in the process, causing few gasps from the bodyguards around us. ‘What do you want me to do! It’s my only weakness, I can’t resist, not that I won’t.’ He snapped back.
Müller stepped forward in a threatening manner before I stopped him with my hand.
‘An underworld King should never have a weakness to begin with, especially not the Crawlers’ leader.’ I chastised.
‘Why do you care what the fuck I do, you can always assign a new leader if I fucked up!’ He asked in the same tone.
‘You better tone it fucking down before I rip your tongue out.’ Threatened Müller when he repeated the offence.
‘What? Don’t you find it odd how I’m repeatedly insulting her, yet I’m still standing just perfectly fine.’ His eyes darting between Müller and me before finally settling on me .
‘I don’t owe you any thing, much less an answer!’ I snapped irritated by his constant nagging. ‘But I’ll give you a hint anyway. My kindness and tolerance towards you is something you should thank your father for, but don’t push your luck, I can still and will for sure snap your head when you go too far.’ I warned.
He seemed to be lost for few moments, trying to decipher what I meant by that. However, I didn’t give him time to react nor to assess anything. I spoke again.
‘You should thank your Lucky stars Adam is safe, otherwise you wouldn’t be standing here complaining like a pathetic bitch! Now scram, and clean this mess you caused before he arrives and sees you here.’ I shooed with my hand in a dismissive manner, knowing that großer bruder wouldn’t be too happy to see him now after what happened today.
He nodded his head, and bowed slightly before retreating from the room along with his bodyguards, still lost in his own thoughts.
I sat down on the couch waiting for his arrival with Müller standing on my side.
I craned my neck and looked at him for a while before gesturing to the couch opposite mine with my chin.
A ghost of a smile came across his features and he shook his head ever so slowly, not wanting to alarm the snooping eyes of the bodyguards in the room. ‘Sit down, Müller.’ I voiced. I give two flying fucks about what they will think.
‘Master wouldn’t appreciate …’ He was cut off by my glare, and he eventually sat down.
‘Großer bruder, won’t do anything to my people in my house as long as they’re obeying me.’ I said.
‘I couldn’t disagree.’ Came a new deep voice, I turned over to see all the men in the room bowing in respect. Müller stood up, and bowed slightly when their eyes connected.
‘Welcome, Bruder.’ I went to him and hugged him. He returned the favour before taking a seat next to me on the couch, but not before patting Müller’s back in a brotherly manner.
‘Sit down, Müller. You’re family.’ He said.
Müller obliged almost immediately. It wasn’t something familiar for him to call anybody family, outside his family and I. However Müller was used to it.
‘How’s Becca?’ I asked. I didn’t need to whisper since the guards were far away from us, so they couldn’t hear us even if they wanted to.
‘Aside from being pissed that I cut our second honeymoon short without giving her a proper reason, she’s just fine.’ He grumbled, she obviously had his ears off for him to act this way.
I laughed at my dear friend’s behaviour, she’s always so hot and cold. ‘And the twins?’
‘They just started crawling. Becca said she would send you the video she made of them.’ A bright smile stretched on my lips. I loved those two bundles of joy immensely, but I’ve been too busy to pay them a visit.
No one knew of them except for me, Müller, and Jürgen. To everyone else, Großer bruder was a single man.
Despite how casually he was talking about them, I knew he was proud of the little boys, and that he loved them and their mother like no other. That’s why he’s always secretive about them and his identity, but he was a master at controlling his emotions and facial expressions.
‘What did you want to talk about?’ He asked changing the subject.
‘I want to speed this up, I don’t know how much time I have left. Besides the more I drag this the more Adam will be exposed to the danger that comes with this.’ I got right to the point.
He nodded, before standing up. ‘Are you sure you have him under control?’ He asked.
‘Yes.’ I nodded.
‘Alright, then. We will move on to phase 2 of the plan. - Stage 7 and 8...’ He said to Müller more than to me.
‘What about Zeus?’ He asked.
‘I think what happened today shook him off pretty well. We’ll just have to wait for a while and if he still doesn’t come around, I’ll take matters into my hands.’ I replied.
‘Good. We need him.’ He said before hugging me. ‘Remember why the Crawlers were created?’ He whispered in my ear while hugging me, but I know it was more than just a question.
He knows I remember why they were created and who created them. It’s not something I could easily forget.
I just nodded and he released me before exiting the door to his awaiting sleek sports car.
‘Come on, Müller. We’re going to the hospital.’ I stated, still staring at the retreating back on the bulky man that was occupying my house just moments ago.
Then I snapped back to reality, took my jacket and handed my keys to Müller before heading to the backseat of my car.
I waited for him to swivel the car out of out of the driveway.
My mind kept going back to Adam, my Adam….
