Symbolic chess match between man and devil
Friedrich Moritz August Retzsch's 1866 painting "Checkmate" portrays a tense, symbolic chess match between a young man and the Devil, with an angel quietly observing behind. The Devil, draped in red and exuding smug confidence, seems to have the upper hand, while the young man appears defeated, staring helplessly at the board. The scene represents a spiritual struggle a battle for the soul - where every move is a moral choice. Though the Devil believes he's won, the angel's calm presence hints at a deeper truth: the game may not be over, and hope still lingers, if the right move is found.

If we look closely at the Chess Game at hand, what the painting Depicts is that the Devil got the upper hand to win the Young man's soul, but if you look closely at the board, There is still one more move the "King" has to make. That move we can call it a Soul winning Day, when the young man makes it a "Check Mate" ending...
